Safety Guide
RiotBuddies matches people based on shared music interests. Your matches are strangers. Here's how to stay safe.
RiotBuddies does not verify anyone's identity. We designed the tool to collect as little information as possible, but we cannot guarantee the behavior of other users. Use your own judgment.
In chat
- Use a pseudonym. You don't need to use your real name. Pick any nickname.
- Keep private info private. Don't share your real name, address, workplace, hotel, phone number, or personal social accounts with people you just met here.
- You can leave anytime. Close the tab. Type
/part or /quit. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Block uncomfortable interactions. Type
/ignore [nickname] in the chat to stop seeing messages from someone.
- Your email is never visible to other users — not in chat, not anywhere on the site.
If you choose to meet in person
Nothing about RiotBuddies requires or encourages you to meet anyone in person. If you independently choose to:
- Meet somewhere public and crowded — the festival itself is a fine option
- Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting
- Trust your gut — if something feels off, it probably is
- Don't feel obligated to stay if you're uncomfortable
Reporting
If someone is harassing you or violating the Community Rules, email chandler@facey.page. Include the channel name and a description of what happened.
What we don't promise
We won't tell you this is a "safe" community or that your matches are "verified." They aren't. This is a fan tool for finding people with overlapping band interests — treat it like any other way of meeting strangers on the internet, because that's what it is.
